Need to be Consistent

Consistent. That can sound stagnant, but it can often be a good thing.
If I am consistently a good person, I will like me, my friends and family can count on me...
It doesn't mean I'm boring.
That is the other issue.
Complexity.
Most people are very complex.
I laugh at my complexity, as I have many interests, and many are at seemingly opposite ends of the "spectrum" from others.
Like Harley Davidson motorcycles. When I was young (er), and raising my four kids, I wasn't very interested in motorcycles, and although I had been to a Motocross race once, thought it was cool, and have always gone to different types of auto racing, I thought "bikers" were like the Hell's Angels of old, basically criminals who didn't
believe in law and order, and enjoyed cruelty and crudity.
And more basically, I thought Harleys were loud and might wake up the baby.
Now that we have one (actually, not our first motorcycle) I find that I like most of the Harley people I meet, and I get a kick out of the leathers and the outlaw look. But it is a step out of the box for me, I was somewhat of a "Flower Child" in the
'60s, but only adopting the parts what I agreed with. For instance, I didn't believe in not bathing. And I had a job. I didn't do drugs to the point that I couldn't keep my job or my sanity.
And as I posted before, now that our kids are grown, our focus is on our rescued parrots. I am very much into animal rights and protecting animals from cruelty.
I have looked for a patch that says something like that, a patch for my Harley jacket.
I read about a Harley group in CA who rescued kittens so I know there are Harley people into fighting animal cruelty. But I haven't found anything that would work for my jacket.
Anothe thing that is quasi-connected is veganism. So far I haven't completely been able to shrug off my craving for animal products. But at least I have found a number of companies that are producing Free-Range meats. We had already switched to Free-Range Eggs and Organic milk a while back.
While the main issue, for me, is the treatment of the animals (would you like links?) and I can tell horror stories. Every day in the life or an average animal raised- no, not the right word, brought into the world (as the word "raised" connotates care) brought into this world for the purpose of eating it, is a horrible day.
Do a search on Free-Range Chicken, Beef, Pork or Bison, and you might begin to get the picture. Containment farming was brought to my attention very innocently, this summer, by a friend in IA who was just wondering....and so it goes.
I have just started reading "Skinny Bitch", mentioned to me by my beautiful daughter.I think this is some, ething that needs to be a major issue in this country.
Today I am trying to switch from diet Pepsi to Zevia. I'm going to get some.

Why Do People Rant and Rave?

I don't know how else to say this. I wanted to start my blog with a happy place, which I have tried to create in our yard in the city in Colorado. It is 2/3 of an acre, and my son and I have created a 3-level koi pond that draws birds and creatures for miles!

We have lived here for 20 years, and I have planted numerous plants and trees until the yard is
a happy place. That is what the blog was supposed to be about.

Also that we rescue parrots. We are at our limit, I think, until we remodel. We have 6 birds, 3 Amazon parrots, 2 Goffins' Cockatoos (terrible screamers right now), and a Blue and Gold Macaw.

Well, the Goffins are screaming, because my husband came home from flying his RC plane and went on a rant about his cell phone. He was trying to convert the phone from my name to his, and after 3 tries, between which he had a few choice words, he finally got a human. Then the call was dropped. That's a problem in this area.
So he yelled for a minute, and then called again. Got a person, and then just when he was getting somewhere, the call was dropped again. So now he complained to me at the top of his lungs, and I am ready to yell back!

But the birds are doing that for me, and our B&G, who was a bit abused by her former owners (I think one was nice, the other was a disciplinarian, being a former colonel in the Army) becomes very protective of me when DH yells. So has gone after toes a few times. She mostly lives under my desk, so this room is a no-man's land if you're a yeller. Lol!

Well, hopefully he'll go for a bike ride and run off some of his angst. The day is too beautiful to waste.
Hello all, and bye for now!
